About Us

Dairy History…

Bulger Creek Farm, L.L.C., formed in 1998, is located on 80 beautiful acres in east, central Alabama just 15 miles west of Auburn, near Notasulga, AL.   All of our products are produced 100% from milk produced here at the farm.  We agreed in 1998 that we would be dedicated to high quality, locally produced products.   No outside milk or curd will ever be used on this dairy.   We are small and plan to dedicate our efforts to quality over volume.

The farm is owned and operated by Kyle and Melanie Payne, Amanda and Stephen Sides, and Ashley and Willie Payne.

Our 80+ goats produce milk for our sweet, delicious goat milk, gourmet goat cheese products (both hard and soft varieties) and goat milk soaps and lotions. As we increase our customer base, our goatherd continues to grow. It is our goal to eventually run a herd of 100 animals to assure our milk volume for a longer season of production. In addition to producing cheese, we make soaps and lotions.

The Farmers…

Kyle, an Auburn University graduate, and Melanie, a University of Alabama graduate, are both retired and now spend much of their time at the farm.  They started the business in 1998 with the help of their two children: Amanda and Willie.

Amanda and Stephen also both graduated from Auburn University.   Amanda is currently the system administrator for the Lee County government and Stephen is both an Auburn Police officer and a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air National Guard.  Amanda and Stephen will be taking over the business when Melanie and Kyle retire to Lake Martin.

Willie and Ashley live in Port St. Joe Beach, Florida with their two sons, Lex and Jag.   They both graduated from Auburn University and visit the diary often.

Bulger Creek Farm is a grade A licensed goat dairy and a licensed cheese manufacturing plant. We also hold a county health department certificate in order to produce our cheesecakes from our commercial kitchen. Visit our booth at area markets to sample our 4 varieties of soft goat cheese, 5 varieties of hard goat cheese, and sniff our 7 fragrances of soap and lotion.  We are also available in select stores and restaurants.

Our Commitment…

Bulger Creek Farm is known for making very mild, palatable goat cheeses. We maintain this consistent quality by controlling our milk quality. All of our feed is a special nutritional formula with no additional additives , that has been developed just for us. We only use milk that we produce. Alabama law allows us to buy curd to press for soft cheese from the US or other countries. Bulger Creek Farm products are 100% Alabama products, produced on our farm. We do not use preservatives and we keep the acid levels and sodium levels fairly low to offer a wonderful, healthy product. If you want our quality of soft cheese, you will find it in the freezer section of the retail establishments that sell it. Our cheese will not keep in a grocery’s cooler for 6 months like most of the stronger goat cheeses that you get. There is plenty of request for both types of cheese so…if you want mild, just look in the freezer section for our  soft cheeses. You will get a 2 week shelf life when you get it home in the  refrigerator or up to 1 year in the freezer.  Our hard cheese is in the dairy section with all the other cheeses.
